It isn’t the loss that takes centre stage, but the person you miss: that one smile, the way they stood, the dog that always lay at your feet. In a few soft lines you recognise them straight away, and so that person stays a little bit close every day.
The last holiday, a birthday, that one photo where he or she is completely themselves. For yourself or as a gift: you know which photo it has to be, and that is exactly what makes it a personalised gift that is truly about that one person.

A line portrait is gentler than a real photo: no sharp details, just calm lines in wood. It creates a soft, timeless place in the home to remember and to pause for a moment. Sometimes for a second, sometimes a little longer.
That treasured photo becomes one continuous line, cut out of light or black wood. Calm, timeless and instantly recognisable.

From a 22 cm shelf model to a 120 cm wall model. Easy to hang without drilling.
It doesn’t have to be a professional photo. A photo from your phone, a scan from an old album, a picture of a birthday years ago: all of these work.
What matters is not the quality of the photo, but that it captures a moment that shows who that person was.

Sometimes there is only one photo, or one of the last photos. Our illustrator adjusts exactly what you want. Simply let us know in the feedback field. You will always see the revised design for approval.
Not sure which photo works best? Feel free to send us a message, we’re happy to take a look with you.
Together in one portrait
Sometimes there is no photo with everyone together. An angel baby who could never be in the photo. A dad or mum who never got to know the grandchildren. A parent who passed away suddenly. Our illustrator can add them from a second photo, or as a silhouette, a star or a butterfly. Small and quiet, but there.
“So lovely that products like this exist, so that someone who has been missed for a long time can still belong. This way our little family is complete after all, even though ‘in real life’ it isn’t.”
Our illustrator can combine several photos into one portrait, so that everyone is included after all.
Combine your photos →Then choose a larger size. That way everyone gets their own little place in the portrait and everything stays easy to recognise.
See the sizes →Then give a gift card. That way they can choose, at their own pace, the photo that means the most to them. Sometimes that is exactly what someone who is grieving needs: time to choose.
See the gift cards →Of your own family as it was, of your parents, of someone you miss every day. The process is the same, and here too we’re happy to look at it together with you.
“It has become a lovely little place of remembrance for my mum, with a candle, a little flower and an urn in the shape of a white butterfly next to it. I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
Would you like to calmly talk through what’s possible first? Feel free to get in touch with us.
Many of our portraits made after a loss are ordered by someone close to the bereaved: a partner, the children, a friend, a colleague, or a team that wants to give something together.
Don’t know which photo? Ask about it: choosing that one photo together is often already a small piece of comfort.
“[…] I lost my beloved brother very suddenly and it was a gift for our mum. […] So your portrait was once again heartwarming, to give him a place in her home.”
There is no set moment. Some give it in the week of the farewell. Others wait a few months, or have it made during an illness, so that the portrait can be looked at together.
A birthday or an anniversary of the loss is also a lovely occasion. That date comes back every year, and then it’s comforting to have something in the home that says: we haven’t forgotten him or her.
“[…] sympathy gifts also mean a great deal. Not necessarily straight away, because then there is mostly grief, but after a while you can look at the gift with a lot of love.”
First comes recognition, because the likeness is striking straight away. Then a silence. Often a hand to the mouth, and a tear. For the giver, that is the moment you know the sympathy gift was well chosen.
“I opened the box straight away to have a look, and immediately got goosebumps and tears in my eyes. […] Her reaction… she was deeply moved. You could see the likeness perfectly.”

“The girls often look at it too. And so he feels just that little bit closer every time.”

More about the family portrait
A dog, cat or horse is part of the family, even when they are no longer here. On their own in the picture, or together with the people they called home. Or would you like all your animals in one portrait? That’s no problem either.

Juuniek started at the kitchen table, with a line portrait of Anneleen’s little son Juul. The name? Juul + uniek (Dutch for unique). All wooden line portraits are still made and packed in our own workshop in Belgium, with the care and calm that a keepsake deserves.
Something that is about that person rather than about the grief. A portrait from a personal photo is just such a sympathy gift: soft, timeless and with a permanent, peaceful place in the home. Try it for free with the photo.
Those who want to give something lasting often choose a personal sympathy gift: a portrait, an engraved object, a piece of jewellery. A wooden line portrait fits in well: it is made from a photo of the person who has passed away, and wood stays beautiful for years on a wall or a shelf. Try it for free with the photo.
Many people wonder about that, and that is exactly why they choose a line portrait. Because it is made of lines rather than being a photo, it is far less confronting. One customer wrote to us: “Because it’s lines, it is much more timeless than a photo and looks so much calmer.” Still unsure? Then feel free to ask for a photo; most people find it lovely to hear that you’re having something made for them.
A portrait of the pet, on its own or together with the family it belonged to. A dog, a cat, a horse, all of it is possible. If it’s just about the animal, take a look at our pet portraits.
With the shelf model on a stand, something can be engraved into the holder. When ordering, let us know which name or text you’d like on it. This is also possible on the wall models, but only in small lettering. In general, we recommend not adding text, so as to preserve the minimalist look as much as possible. Would you still like a short text? Then let us know in the feedback field.
Yes. In the design tool you can add a second photo. Both photos are then combined. Not quite how you pictured it yet? Fill in the feedback field and our illustrator will make sure it’s just right.
Yes. Many parents don’t have a single photo of their little one together with the family. Our illustrator can add them as a small star, a butterfly or a soft silhouette, in the place that feels right for you. Simply share your wish in the feedback field of the design tool; you always see the design first. That way your family is complete after all.
Adjustments are unlimited and free, and nothing is made until you give your approval. If you’re still not happy before that approval, you get a full refund. So there’s no risk for you. Try your photo for free, with no commitment.
Most portraits are shipped within the week, often within just a few days. You’ll see the estimated delivery time in the design tool while ordering. Every parcel is sent insured and with track & trace, and we ship to Belgium and the Netherlands.
A lasting keepsake of the person who is no longer here. A wooden line portrait from a treasured photo, for example of the family as it was, finds a peaceful place in the home. Our illustrator can also add someone who isn’t in the photo. Try it for free with the photo.
Something that lasts and doesn’t feel too heavy. A line portrait shows the person in a few soft lines, without the sharpness of a photo. That is precisely why many people find it calm and comforting. With the shelf model, a name or date can be engraved into the holder.
